On September 28, 2023, the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) delivered a letter from 652 membership associations (including ASCLS) to the chairs and ranking members of the Senate Finance and House Ways and Means Committees in support of the Freedom to Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce Act. The law would allow students, families and workers to use 529 savings plans for postsecondary skills training and credentialing programs, such as licenses and nongovernmental certifications.
This would be a small help to addressing workforce shortages, but every little bit helps.
This effort illustrates how broadly workforce issues are being felt across many employment sectors. It’s also interesting to glance through the more than 600 associations who have signed on.
